Exercises:

These exercises start from basics and are suitable for people with no previous word processing experience. Experienced users may be able to skim over the first few exercises but it is recommended that they be completed in order. I've found from teaching experience that people who skips steps invariably have to come back later to pick up what they missed. All of the following documents are in PDF format. The numbers in brackets indicate file size. Larger files may take a long time to open in slower internet connections.
  1. About Word (148kb)
  2. Getting Started With Word (773kb)
  3. Text Editing (346kb)
  4. Text Tools (498kb)
  5. Character Formatting (228kb)
  6. Paragraph Formatting (286kb)
  7. Tabs & Lists (1.1Mb)
  8. Tables (704kb)
  9. Mail Merge (477kb)
  10. Working with Objects (1.7Mb)
  11. Styles and Contents (692kb)

WordFiles.exe - Exercise files (121kb) - This is a compressed archive which contains all of the files needed for the exercises. Download the archive, double-click on the downloaded file and then specify where you want the exercise files to be placed on your computer.

These exercises were created for users of Microsoft Word version 2003. They should be suitable for users of earlier versions though some minor differences may exist.
